Matthew 17

1And after six days Yeshua takes with him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and brings them up into a high mountain apart: 2and he was transfigured before them; and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as the light. 3And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with him. 4And Peter answered, and said to Yeshua, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if you will, I will make here three tabernacles; one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. 5While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to him. 6And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were greatly afraid. 7And Yeshua came and touched them and said, Arise, and do not be afraid. 8And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Yeshua only. 9And as they were coming down from the mountain, Yeshua commanded them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man has risen from the dead. 10And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must first come? 11And he answered and said, Elijah indeed comes, and shall restore all things: 12but I say to you, that Elijah has already come, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they wanted. Even so the Son of man shall also suffer at their hands. 13Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptist. 14And when they had come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling to him, and saying, 15Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and suffers severely; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. 16And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him. 17And Yeshua answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him here to me. 18And Yeshua rebuked him; and the demon went out of him: and the boy was cured from that hour. 19Then the disciples came to Yeshua apart, and said, Why could we not cast it out? 20And he says to them, Because of your little faith: for truly I say to you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Move from here to there; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you. 21 22And while they stayed in Galilee, Yeshua said to them, The Son of man shall be delivered up into the hands of men; 23and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised up. And they were exceedingly sorry. 24And when they had come to Capernaum, those who received the half-shekel came to Peter, and said, Does not your teacher pay the half-shekel? 25He says, Yes. And when he came into the house, Yeshua spoke first to him, saying, What do you think, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive toll or tribute? from their sons, or from strangers? 26And when he said, From strangers, Yeshua said to him, Therefore the sons are free. 27But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first comes up; and when you have opened his mouth, you shall find a shekel: take that, and give to them for me and you.
